third class
Spring 2008

Originally a part of a larger collection called Travel Rack, the Third Class shoe has only two pattern pieces in addition to its sole and stiffeners. It is made from a soft buffalo leather that has been topically re-dyed so that as one wears the shoe a contrast in the leather and the dye becomes apparent. The top flap is fastened with a single cord that wraps under the sole, and sets in grooves so that it will not be walked on. This cord imitates how one may tie something to the roof of a car with the spontaneity of travel.
