A challenge in elevating the value of pencils, Mouton Mark was branded and packaged to tell a story about pencils. Research into early uses of graphite lead to England where it was first discovered and used to mark sheep. Today graphite is embedded in two separate pieces of cedar pressed together to form a pencil. These discoveries lead to the logo mark, a sheep who's form is comprised of two trees pushed up against each other. Each pencil has been filed flat where the two pieces of wood meet, showcasing their construction.
